First off,
how cute are these stockings? I kind of need to have 3.
Now, that
you have made the whole lifestyle shift to Paleo, and won’t be stuffing your
family's stockings full of sweet treats, are you in need of some ideas?
Here are all the things that would be in my dream stocking (hint-hint, husband).
Cooking
classes: I know that there are endless amounts of free classes & tutorials available
via the internet, but have you gone to a real life cooking class? I recently
had the pleasure of attending Lisa’s Counter Culture's Kombucha making workshop. It was so much fun.
It was great being live, conversing and learning with, like-minded people. Bacon making, knife skills or whole hog
butchery, anyone?
Glass
water bottle: This is a must-have in my book. No need to explain why everyone
and their moms is over plastic. But, I am not a huge fan of stainless
steel either. Glass on the other hand, is not only safe, but it preserves that delicious and refreshing taste of water (I really love water, btw).
We use these lifefactory ones, but these Takeya bottles are pretty adorable too. The
protective sleeve is a must for me, with my butterfingers.
Paleo
Chocolate: If you didn't completely give up treats, how about this
healthier alternative by the Australian based, Hunted & Gathered? It's organic, raw & gluten-free. If you haven’t had
a chance to try these, they are delicious! They have a more complex and
interesting flavor than a standard chocolate bar. I suspect that this is from the carob
and cinnamon that I spotted on the ingredients list. See

Healthy bath & beauty products: Have you tried Primal Life Organics (or PLO, as us addicts like to call it)? If not, check out this post to find out why I love them so
much. My entire regimen is basically made up of these products. PLO products
are so healthy that you can practically eat them (not that I am suggesting you do
that). We've eliminated (or reduced) toxins from our diets, the next logical step (in my opinion) is to reduce the toxins we put all over our largest organ (i.e. our skin). Plus, these products feel really nice on and they leave my skin feeling soft, rejuvenated and nourished.
A session with my favorite RD: If you have been taking a Paleo approach for awhile and need a little optimization or if you want to get healthy but don’t even
know where to start, a session with Amy Kubal will do wonders for you. She is incredibly knowledgeable
and on top of that, she has a gift of explaining the most complex concepts in ways that us non-sciencey folks can comprehend. If you want to clean-up your act in 2013, this would be the perfect starting point.
PALEO Magazine subscription: As convenient as it is to read the many Paleo focused blogs and sites online, I look forward to receiving my
Paleo Magazine in the mail. It's an opportunity to check out from technology, read about one of my favorite topics, and enjoy a cup of tea!
Mini-wooden speaker: First off, it's just cute. You'll also be able to
listen to your favorite Paleo podcasts at the office, so your coworkers can really think that you are a health nut!
Cheesecloth: It’s a crisis at my house, if I run out of cheesecloth, I use this
constantly to strain broth, homemade coconut milk or bacon grease. I always try to use an unbleached variety.
An Orange in the bottom of your stalking is a tradition for my husband's family. Is this a common tradition? I wasn't aware of it before I met him. I imagine that this type of tradition started because citrus fruits are generally a winter crop. We often forget that, since they are available at the supermarket year round. Anyhow, I like that it's a healthy treat & a family tradition, so I plan to keep it up!
